Paddle Tourney: Day 1

Hi everyone!

Yesterday I started working on a very small and simple iOS app. I named it PaddleTourney. The idea is straightforward: track your table tennis tournaments with friends, colleagues, or whoever you like to beat 😄

Why even bother with a dev log?

Because I want to document the process — not just building features, but also capturing thoughts, doubts, and fun moments along the way. It's not about building the next unicorn. It’s about building something I care about.

Why yet another counter app?

Well, I don’t really agree with that take. Yes, there will be a score counter, but the goal is to build a tournament experience — something fun, smooth, and slightly competitive for people who want more than just "player A: 11, player B: 9".

I’ve got a few ideas floating in my head, but for now… let’s keep them there 😉

Why I'm building it

Mainly? For myself. To make our office ping-pong matches more fun, track our wins, maybe even print a silly leaderboard. Because it’s fun — and I want to make it remarkable (hehe).

Monetization?

Nope. The app will be completely free. No ads. No subscriptions. No user data, no trackers.

I did think about adding a little optional one-time “Buy me a coffee” button — maybe as a thank-you, not a business model. But I’m still not sure.
